Happy Birthday, TLP.

On this 21st day of June, 2012, I would officially like to welcome into existence The Lenara Project blog.

Why, you may ask, is said blog receiving the aforementioned name? I thought you'd never ask.

Let's start with "The." For some reason or another, I think it sounds more official if our blog title starts with "The." Also, TLP as an acronym for our blog sounds pretty cool. If we find that the t-word starts to get in the way, we will do what "the facebook" did and bid it adieu.

"Lenara." Now that just seems obvious. At some point (yes, it might have been our first date), the combined power of Lenny and Kara was dubbed "Lenara," and from then on, this has become our household name. And since I, Kara, assume that at some point my husband, Lenny, will also add something to this blog, Lenara seems altogether fitting. (If you are still confused, I recommend that you look up some common examples of portmanteau, such as smog (smoke + fog), spork (spoon + fork), Brangelina (Brad + Angelina), etc.)

And now for "Project." When you look up the word "project" in the dictionary, the following definitions pop up: "something that is contemplated, devised, planned or schemed"; "a large or major undertaking"; "a specific task of investigation."

I like all of these definitions. There is something about each that seems very intentional. They leave ample room for interpretation... Is The Lenara Project a blog about the large and major undertaking of marriage? Is it a specific task of investigation into life? Or is it simply the shared gleanings of whatever Kara and Lenny have learned while contemplating or planning their latest adventure? Yes, yes and yes!

So there you have it. The Lenara Project begins.

Happy birthday, TLP.
